Electrical superintendent Clay Hammer stands next to "Emmy," the 2.5 Megawatt, 20-cylinder diesel generator kept in an outbuilding by Wrangell Municipal Light and Power. Installed in 1982, it boasts a five-foot diameter turbine and weighs a whopping 40 tons.
