Library opens doors after system upgrde

Assistant Librarians Lana Johnson and Margaret Villarma check out books and distribute new library cards to members of the public Friday. The library debuted its new automated system Jan. 27.

Gone are the days of flipping through a catalog of cards to locate a book. Now, Wrangell residents can use the library’s computers to search through an automated catalog or can even do so online in the comfort of their own home.

The digital catalog is part of an overall system upgrade at Irene Ingle Public Library, which went live last week.

Members of the library will now be given a library card and account number, which they can use to log onto the library’s website and search for books, movies and CDs or place them on hold. The system also allows members to see what new items will be coming...
