Class of 2012 receives nearly $850K in scholarships

Wrangell High School Valedictorian Clayton Stokes tosses his cap along with 25 other seniors at the WHS graduation ceremony on Friday, May 18.

A total of $845,162 in scholarships and financial aid was handed out to the graduating seniors of Wrangell High School during their awards assembly May 16. The amount distributed in 2012 was up over last year’s total of $829,423.

The 2012 WHS scholarship and financial aid winners were: UAA scholars, $19,000 each (full tuition and housing), Kent Johnson, Clayton Stokes, Nichole Kagee; President’s Volunteer Service Award, Nichole Kagee; Prudential Spirit of Community Nominee, Nichole Kagee; Elks Most Valuable Student Nominee, $100 each, Loni Buness, Darian Burley, Kent Johnson, Clayton St...
