Loren D. Wallace

Loren D. Wallace "Big Wally", 64, passed away on October 22, 2013 at his home in Wrangell, Alaska.

He was born on March 27, 1949 in Corvallis, Ore. to Howard and Loretta Wallace of Harbor, Ore. He lived in the Oregon area from 1949-1980. Four years of this he served his country in the Marines, then moved to Wrangell where he made his home.

His commercial fishing life kept him coming and going between both towns. His fishing ventures took him many places and he met many people. In 1976 his daughter, Jill Campbell (Wallace) was born to him and Anita Harris (Sands). In 1994 Jill married Wayne and in 1995 and 1997 he was blessed with two grandchildren, Tya and Tyler Campbell who he loved very much. In the next year he planned to move to Mendocino in California to be near his daughter's family. Even though this dream was never realized his family carries him with them.

Wally's father, Howard, passed in 1997 and his mother, Loretta, 91 years old still lives in Harbor. He has a brother Rex Wallace who lives in Alaska. He has a niece Cindy Wallace (Bonine), nephews Caleb Wallace and Craig Wallace.

On October 29 his ashes were scattered by his daughter Jill, family and friends in the ocean off of Wrangell.
