A pyrotechnic display over Zimovia Strait reminds Wrangellites of the cost of independence on July 4, with mortar shells, colorful explosions and flaming whizgigs evoking the many battles fought during America's Revolutionary War and in conflicts since. Funding for the display came in part from Southeast Alaska Power Agency, and the show was put on by Wrangell's own Volunteer Fire Department.
