Candace Chase Stevenson, 65, died on October 21, 2015, in Eugene Ore. from complications of diabetes.

She was born on Jan. 20, 1950 at Bishop Rowe Hospital in Wrangell to Hattie and Duke Chase.

She lived in Wrangell until 1966, when she moved to Juneau with her mother Hattie and step-father Everett Buness.

She attended the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, majoring in music, and later moved to California, where she spent most of her adult life. She earned a business degree from the University of California, and was employed at their Northridge campus as a financial aid officer for many years.

Candy retired to Eugene, in 2004, where she lived with her cat Jinx. She was a devout Christian.

Candy loved nature and music. She especially loved her daughter Christina. They enjoyed many forays to Disneyland. Her Wrangell childhood was filled with adventures, including bike rides to Cemetery Beach, where she could swim in that cold sea water all day.

Candy is survived by her daughter Christina Hernandez (Javier) of Granada Hills, Calif.; her sister Roselyn Huntemann of Seattle, Wash.; nieces Julie Tempest (Andrew) of Seattle and Genie Huntemann of Walla Walla, Wash.; and four great-nieces and nephews.
