A musical interlude downtown

Juneau musicians Dara Rilatos and Taylor Vidic (not pictured) entertain a crowd at the Front Street pavilion early Saturday evening. Wanting to encourage passengers on the cruise liner Seven Seas Mariner to venture into town for the evening, shopkeeper Brooke Leslie arranged with the Chamber of Commerce and other businesses to hold later hours and several open houses, such as the local foods sampler at the new shop Groundswell. The event was to coincide with the grand opening of Leslie's own new shop, 56° North, which will sell "adventure gear and Alaskan essentials." The opening has been delayed, tentatively set now for mid-June. Despite the rain the evening was considered a success, however, and Leslie hopes to see similar activities continued in future years.
