The sunflower sea star is among the world's biggest sea stars. Their habitat ranges from waters from the western tip of Alaska's Aleutian Islands to the coast of Baja California. But sea star wasting syndrome has cut the population by about 90% since 2013, and federal regulators are considering an Endangered Species Act listing.
