In an impromptu fundraiser run, Southeast Beasts and participants in the Stikine Middle School basketball program undertook a five-kilometer walk and jog on Sunday to raise money for the Cougars' upcoming season. Donations were collected informally, and a new pair of Xtratuf boots was donated by Johnson's Building Supply. The running group will be preparing to hold its big Alaska Day Half Marathon and 5K on Oct. 22.
