The deadline to file for the Oct. 4 municipal election is 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at City Hall.
There will be eight seats on the ballot for the borough assembly, port commission and school board.
As of midday Monday, Aug. 25, six candidates had submitted the required paperwork to get on the ballot.
Brittani Robbins filed to run for a second term on the assembly and also filed to run for a seat on the school board, where she served one term before losing her reelection bid in 2024.
As of Tuesday, she was the only person to file for a three-year term on the assembly. Two three-year seats will be on the ballot. The other incumbent, David Powell, had not yet filed for reelection, and no challengers had filed.
Assembly Member Phillip Mach filed for reelection to a one-year term.
There are two, three-year school board seats on the Oct. 4 ballot. In addition to Robbins, incumbent Elizabeth Roundtree filed for the board, as did Bonnie Ritchie. Incumbent Dave Wilson had not filed as of Tuesday.
Winston Davies filed for another three-year term on the port commission. There are two three-year terms and one one-year term on the ballot.
Commission incumbent John Yeager had not filed for reelection as of Tuesday.
First-year commission member Antonio Silva filed to run for the one-year term.
Declaration of candidacy forms are available at the borough clerk’s office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Candidates are required to collect at least 10 signatures on their declaration form.
A candidate for the assembly must be a registered voter, at least 18 years old, and must have lived in town for at least one year.
School board candidates must be at least 18 years old and a registered voter.
Port commissioners must be at least 21 years old and have lived in Wrangell for at least one year.
