Competition for Wrangell’s Marine Service Center
Jordan Young, of Highmark Marine, operates the 150-ton-capacity boat lift Sept. 23 at the Gary Paxton Industrial Park in Sitka. The haul-out started operations this summer, culminating four years of work after Sitka voters in 2021 approved spending $8.2 million on the facility. Total costs eventually came to $10 million. Sitka signed a five-year contract with Kodiak-based Highmark Marine Fabrication to operate the haul-out and shipyard at the borough-owned industrial park.
