Due to a lack of a quorum at a special meeting called for Monday, July 21, the borough assembly postponed until Tuesday, July 29, a public hearing and possible vote on a pair of ordinances to regulate the use of e-bikes and e-scooters in town.
One ordinance would set the minimum age for operators at 10 years old, and would require users who do not have a state driver’s license or learner’s permit to come into the police station to take a skills test for a borough-issued permit.
It also would restrict where people could ride e-bikes and e-scooters.
A second ordinance would set fines for violations of the new laws.
The meeting for a public hearing on the ordinances will start at 6 p.m. July 29 in the assembly chambers at City Hall. Following the hearing, the assembly could vote to accept, reject or amend the new rules.
