Fourth in photos
Terry Buness led the procession of floats down Front Street for the Fourth of July, driving the Wrangell Fire Department’s restored 1932 Ford truck. The parade grand marshal, Wrangell’s citizen of the year Trista Robinson-Christian, is on the left in the back of the truck. It was a successful holiday celebration in town, with royalty candidate Kalee Herman raising more than $50,000 from raffle ticket sales and other fundraisers to help support next year’s Fourth of July fireworks and the chamber of commerce’s operating expenses for the year. The Fourth of July evening street dance in front of the Nolan Center drew a large group ready to enjoy the music and dancing — including “YMCA,” a favorite from the 1970s disco group Village People, played by a DJ for the early dancing Saturday. The Juneau-based band Bards of Mendenhell performed later in the evening.
