Honoring the memory of Derek Heller

Parents and students gathered outside the clubhouse at Muskeg Meadows on Oct. 8 for a Blue Jean Run to commemorate the late Derek Heller, who lost his life during the November 2023 landslide that took out the Heller home, killing all five members of the family. Coach Laura Davies said the students decided on the run because Derek, who was 12 years old when he died, regularly ran while wearing blue jeans and they wanted to honor his memory.
