Patricia Eileen (Lewis) Mork, loving wife, mom, grandmother, great- and great-great-grandmother and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2026.
Patricia “Pat” was born in Wrangell on Oct. 7, 1933, and lived here all of her life. She met the love of her life, Elmer, and they were married in May 1954. They were married for 72 years.
Pat was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was Wrangell’s first Fourth of July queen, crowned in 1952.
Pat enjoyed holiday family gatherings, home decorating, driving out the road with friends, making pineapple upside-down cakes, playing bingo and watching “Golden Girls” on TV.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer, of Wrangell; sister Colleen, of Anchorage; daughters Pasty, of Metlakatla, and Angie, of Wrangell; sons Elmer (Marilyn) and David (Brenda), of Wrangell. She loved her 27 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and three great-great-great-grandchildren. She is lovingly remembered by many special nieces and nephews and extended family, and her long-term care family of caregivers who she lived with and loved.
A special celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
God saw that she was getting tired
and a cure was not to be,
so he whispered, “come with me.”
With tearful eyes we watched her
linger and slowly fade away.
Although we loved her dearly,
we could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
and hard working came to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
