Longtime resident Sandra ‘Sandy’ Jeanne Stuart dies at 75

Sandra ‘Sandy’ Jeanne Stuart, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, in Wrangell at the age of 75.

She was born on May 25, 1951, in Seattle, Washington, to Leslie Stuart and Gayle Larsen.

Sandy made Wrangell her home in 1974 and was proud to be part of the community. She found joy in simple moments, sharing stories and spending time with those she loved 

She spent many years cooking pizzas at the Marine, where she became a familiar face to coworkers, customers and members of the community. Her dedication, warm smile and welcoming nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

“Sandy was known for kind heart, hardworking spirit, quiet strength and devotion to those she cared about. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her,” her family wrote.

She is survived by son Christopher Stuart; daughter Shanna Stuart; brother Allen Stuart; grandchildren Michelle and Elizabeth Stuart; nieces Tami Stuart and Cassie Stuart; many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered their kindness, support and prayers during this difficult time.

Sandy was buried at the Sunset Gardens Cemetery with a memorial afterward at the Shoemaker Bay Rec Area on July 21, 2026.
