Resident apologizes for past behavior, asks understanding

Posted

I am writing this as a public apology and as an honest effort to bring clarity to certain events and the emotions behind them.

I deeply regret the things I said and how I behaved. My actions hurt people I genuinely care about, including a family I grew up around and have always respected. I want them, and the community, to know how sincerely sorry I am.

At the time, I was under immense pressure. I was dealing with depression, medication side effects, anxiety, longstanding stress and frustration that I never truly addressed. I was overwhelmed watching friends struggle, watching people harm themselves, hearing about threats toward loved ones, and living with years of being accused, misunderstood or mistreated.

Instead of handling that pain in a healthy way, it exploded in anger and words I cannot take back. I think about it often, and I truly hate that I acted that way.

This letter is both an acknowledgment of my wrongdoing and a reminder of the ongoing injustice I have been confronting for over three years. Regardless of anyone’s judgment, I have never lacked intelligence or conscience — only sometimes control or peace. I take accountability for my behavior, and I am trying to grow past it.

I want the community to understand that despite everything, I have always tried to be selfless and honest, and I have never been afraid to stand up for truth, even when it cost me dearly.
I have always been introverted and incredibly hard on myself. I am not someone who gossips or follows the crowd. I value integrity, accountability, and fairness, and I believe our community needs unity now more than ever. We all face battles — personal, financial, emotional, global pressures, and uncertainty.

I hope this letter clears the air, answers questions, and shows that I am not indifferent to the impact of my actions.

Wrangell shaped me. Growing up here was not always easy, but it gave me resilience, strength and purpose. I have found direction, passion and determination moving forward. I simply ask for understanding, fairness and the opportunity to be seen for who I truly am — not just my worst moments.

With respect,
Trenten R. Maxand
