Starting this week, the Sentinel will send out a free email newsletter every Friday morning, listing community events for the weekend and the coming week.
The Wrangell Happenings newsletter will go out automatically to the 372 readers on the newspaper’s email list — plus anyone and everyone else who wants to sign up for the free service.
It’s the same distribution list the paper uses to send out its free email newsletter on Wednesday mornings, alerting readers to what’s in each week’s Sentinel.
If you are not on the list, just go to the Sentinel website at wrangellsentinel.com and click on the bright blue button at the top right that says “CLICK HERE FOR FREE SENTINEL NEWSLETTER” and enter your email address.
No credit card required; no personal information gathered; and the Sentinel will not share or sell the list to anyone.
“We already assemble the community events we receive into a listing on Page 2 of the Sentinel print edition each week, and online at the website at wrangellsentinel.com/calendar/. We figured we could go one step further and pull it all together in an easy-to-read newsletter to share with the community every week,” said Larry Persily, Sentinel publisher.
“A free, weekly newsletter seems like a good way to provide more publicity for community events.”
To have your event included in the calendar, email Amber Armstrong at the Sentinel at wrgsent@gmail.com. There is no charge.
The community calendar is available for events that are open to the public, whether sponsored by individuals, nonprofits, churches or other organizations. The calendar is not open for commercial business listings.
