Lifelong Alaskan, Edward "Ted" McLean Eastaugh, 74, passed away July 16, 2014 at his home in Anchorage.

Ted was born November 25, 1939 to William Ladd and Doris Jessie (McLean) Eastaugh in Seattle, Wash. The family returned to Wrangell, Alaska where Ted grew up. As a teenager he roamed the woods, hunted with his brother and friends and starred as the center for his high school basketball team.

In Fairbanks he attended UAF, receiving a bachelor's degree in biology. While there he met his future wife, Linda Morrow, and they were married September 14, 1960 in Anchorage. After graduation from UAF, they settled in Anchorage where they raised their daughter.

Ted worked various jobs including teaching science, biology and art. He loved teaching and wanted to be remembered as a teacher. Ted was forced to retire from the workforce due to illness.

He was a dedicated member of the Baha'i faith.

Ted's interests were many, but he enjoyed art in all its forms, especially writing and reading. He read widely to broaden his own knowledge and filled notebooks with

hints of wisdom to guide his life.

Ted was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jessica Faye Smith; brother, William Dennis Eastaugh; and his parents.

He is survived by his daughter and son in-law, Jennifer and Don Smith of Silverton, Ore .; grandson, Jade Smith of Silverton; wife and friend, Linda Eastaugh of Anchorage; sister in-law, Rosemary Ruoff; and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Ted's life will be held at a later date with his family in Oregon.
