Lucille S. Massin

Lucille S. Massin, 85, passed away September 20, 2014 in Wrangell, Alaska.

Massin was born July 17, 1929 in Circle, Mont. to A J and Elsie (Volpp) Fritz. She was raised in Circle, Mont., one in a family of 15 children.

On February 26, 1949 she married Ben Massin of Fromberg, Mont. They had five children: Jerry, Sharon, Sandy, Dean and Bernie and lived in Rancho Cordova, Calif.

At the age of 31 her husband Ben died of cancer leaving her to raise their children alone. In 1968 she and her children moved to Wrangell. Moving to Alaska was the best thing ever. She enjoyed life in Alaska, fishing with her sons, walking her dogs and family dinners. She was a grandmother of nine, great-grandmother of 15 and great-great grandmother of two with two more on the way. She looked forward to the Fritz family reunions held every two years where her remaining three brothers and two sisters along with their families get together. She was a member of the Lutheran church and enjoyed helping with the morning prep. She also helped with the BINGO at the Long Term Care.
