It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel O. Bauer announces his passing on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the age of 72. He was born on September 22, 1946 in Aurora, Illinois, to John W. Bauer Jr. and Mary Helen. He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1964 and served in the United States Army.

He moved his family from Sycamore, Illinois to California in 1976 and then on to Alaska in 1978. He worked as a Lineman and Installer for Ketchikan Public Utilities, remaining with KPU until his retirement in 2005. On June 29, 1986, he married Jayne Elizabeth (Gerard) Cummings. Together they raised seven children.

He volunteered his time and skills to many organizations through the years...most actively with the Boy Scouts of America, as well as First City Players, Ketchikan High School Stage Crew and many local churches.

After retirement, the Bauers moved to Wrangell, Alaska. Together they enjoyed many activities including boating, fishing, hiking, traveling and antiquing. They celebrated 25 years married before Jayne passed away in 2011.

He is survived by his siblings John W. (Carlene) Bauer III, Susan Lloyd & Kristen (Paul) Simpson; children, Amy Bauer, Dan (Heidi) Bauer, Michael Bauer, Jackie (Art) Kimball, Melissa (Troy) Izatt, John (Julie) Cummings and John (Marsha) Bauer; grandchildren, Alec Lundburg, Elijah Lundburg, Jake (Hannah) Bauer, Christian Bauer, Mason Bauer, Collin Kimball, McKenna Kimball, Carson Kimball, Peyton Kimball, Avery Kimball, Chaz Izatt, Sebastien Izatt, Noah Cummings, Aspen Bauer and Bryce Bauer; dear friend, Tammy Lewis.

He is preceded in death by his father, John W. Bauer Jr., mother, Mary Helen Bauer, wife, Jayne Bauer, brother-in-law, William Lloyd and mother of his children, Shirley Mae (Jacky) Morford.

All who knew Dan are invited to join in a Celebration of Life at George Inlet Lodge on December 1st from 4-7 p.m. Family will hold a private ceremony to spread his ashes in Wrangell at a later date.
