In a letter from Reverend Corser, “I have happened to run into some important inside history of the war which has never been published. It is a special reason for thanksgiving, and I will speak about it at that service. My great regret is that I could not have been in Wrangell to have helped in the celebration. It began here at five o’clock in the morning. I was awakened by the blowing of whistles. I knew that they proclaimed victory because we were all looking for it.
