Remembering mariners

Gig Decker (left) and Jenn Miller-Yancey, Wrangell Mariners' Memorial board members, helped lead the annual blessing of the fleet May 12 at the memorial at Heritage Harbor. The names of people who were added to the memorial plaques this year were read aloud. The event also included music and a reading of the poem, "If You've Ever Lived on an Island." Capt. Chase Green of The Salvation Army, pastor Kem Haggard of Harbor Light Assembly of God Church and pastor Sue Bahleda of the Island of Faith Lutheran Church officiated at the blessing.
