A 38-foot fishing trawler has a potential date with fire after sinking in Shoemaker Bay earlier this month, authorities said. Harbor users reported the Falcon had sunk on the morning of Feb. 13. While going to the dock at Ellimar, she struck a rock at high tide and her fuel oil had to be pumped into the bay to float her. PETERSBURG – Sales increased for local Petersburg businesses by more than $14 million in 2013 compared to 2012. Business across town such as Viking Travel, Diamante Gift Shoppe and Hammer & Wikan all experienced increased sales. Authorities charged Lavina “Lovey” Brock, 68, of Wrangell with four counts of promoting illegal gambling. A criminal complaint filed Feb. 5 in district court alleges that Brock held Texas Hold ‘em games for cash at American Legion Post #6, and promoted the games around town using flyers.
