Headed to a new home
Taking advantage of a clear afternoon on Jan. 23, Brian Schwartz continued to dismantle the chamber of commerce Front Street pavilion, which is scheduled to be removed before Feb. 15. The property owner wants the lot back for future development and the chamber needed someone to take down the wooden structure. Schwartz submitted the winning bid for the wood — which includes taking apart the pavilion one stick at a time. He said he plans to haul the spruce and yellow cedar posts, joists and lumber to his family’s property up the Stikine River, where he is building a cabin.
