Jerry E. Elliot

Jerry E. Elliot, a resident of Wrangell, Alaska from 1969 to 1989, died at home June 14, 2013. He was born in Amboy, Minn. July 5, 1931. Jerry graduated from Central Valley High School outside Spokane, Wash. in 1949 and shortly thereafter joined the Navy serving 5 years in Korea and Japan. After discharge he went to work for Pacific NW Bell in the Columbia Basin area. He married wife Carol in 1956 and they had 2 daughters. In 1969 they moved the family to Wrangell where Jerry took over the management of GTE Alaska. During his years in Wrangell he was instrumental in helping to find funding for Wrangell’s first radio station, KSTK, he served as President of the C of C and was elected to the Port Commission. He also helped found Island of Faith Lutheran Church. After retiring from GTE in 1988 he and Carol moved to Arizona before returning to Spokane Valley. They have lived in Valleyford, Wash. since 1993. Jerry is survived by wife Carol, daughters, Cindy Manning (Ken) Gig Harbor, Wash., Kathy Robinson (Ron) Valleyford, brother Chuck Elliot (Carol) Maricopa, Ariz., grandsons Buddy, Steven, Kacy, great-granddaughter, Adelyn and nephews Charlie and Clint Elliot. Services will be at 1:00 Sat. June 22, 2013 at Valleyford Community Church followed by a Celebration of Life. Cards may be sent to the family at: 12017 S. Sands Rd. Valleyford, WA 99036.
