Hoisting the holiday tree

Dan Rudy/ Wrangell Sentinel

Workers with Wrangell Municipal Light and Power hoist this year's Christmas tree into place next to the Elks Lodge Nov. 25, after felling it earlier near Nemo Loop Road. The 75-foot Sitka spruce has since been strung with lights and decorated in preparation for this weekend's Midnight Madness. The tree will be lit at 6 p.m. Friday, officially kicking off the community's holiday season.
