Theodore (Ted) William Thomassen

Theodore (Ted) William Thomassen, 75, passed away unexpectedly in Sitka, Alaska, on Oct. 16, 2015.

Ted was born Aug. 9, 1940 in Petersburg, Alaska to Haakon and Eleanor Thomassen.

He was an avid commercial fisherman from a very early age, first fishing with his father at a young age on the Baltic. After moving to Sitka, Alaska he owned and operated his own commercial fishing vessels for over 40 years. He was also an avid mechanic.

Ted was very witty with an infectious laugh and a good sense of humor. He was an individual who loved his boats; the Ginger was his favorite. The Ginger was a 42 footer, in which he fished from Petersburg to Baranof Island and all surrounding waters. His favorite place was Cameron Pass. He was passionate about hunting and fishing.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his companion of 29 years Joyce Chandler; brothers Palmer, Steven

and Fred Thomassen; and many nieces and nephews.
