On September 29, 1947, Chuck married his high school sweetheart Alice Irene Rice. He attended Oregon State University before joining the U.S. Army and served during the Korean conflict.     Jimmie "Jim" Wayne Thompson, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2018 at the Wrangell Medical Center. His health had declined over the last several years after suffering from several small strokes, and one substantial one in 2011 while he was visiting his mother in Texas. After spending several weeks in rehab, he was able to return back to his home in Wrangell where unfortunately his health continued to decline. A total of 27 holes were played over Saturday and Sunday, with golfers teaming up for the best-ball competition.     Outnumbered over the weekend, Wrangell’s team of golfers reclaimed the Ray Pederson Ryder Cup from their Petersburg rivals. Eighteen golfers played on Saturday, with a point awarded for the best score on each individual hole. Wrangell led five points to three.
