The Wrangell Wolves went north to Anchorage last week for the annual ACS Denali Auto Glass Invitational Tournament. There were 33 teams competing in this tournament, making it one of the biggest tournaments Wrangell High School competes in. Wrangell was one of seven teams to participate in the Haines Invitational this past weekend. It was a hard week for them, according to Assistant Coach Jack Carney. The Lady Wolves volleyball team travelled to Skagway for their most recent tournament of the season. The team had games scheduled against Haines, Skagway, Klawock, Craig, Metlakatla, and Petersburg. Wrangell was host to the Tom Sims Invitational wrestling tournament this past weekend. Teams from all over Southeast Alaska, 11 in total, came together to officially kick off the high school wrestling season. The Wrangell Cooperative Association held an award ceremony at Wrangell High School Monday evening, Sept. 30. Tribal Administrator Esther Ashton, along with several members of the WCA board, organized the ceremony to officially give several local organizations a check from the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium's "Healthy Is Here" grant. Charles P. Berg, 88, of Litchfield Park, Arizona, passed away peacefully at Abrazo West Medical Center on April 9, 2019. He was born in Pierpoint, South Dakota on March 2, 1931 and spent his youth in Seward, Alaska and Wrangell, Alaska. His parents, Claude and Geraldine were teachers.
